About Dentist Checker
Dentist Checker publishes the facts people need to get a dentist in England: which practices take NHS patients, what the NHS charges, what private treatment really costs, and how to get seen in an emergency. Every figure has a source and a date.
Who writes it
Dentist Checker is written and edited by Christopher Fagan and published by PEF Consulting Partners Limited in Liverpool. Chris is not a dentist, and nothing here is clinical advice. His background is nineteen years delivering data and systems for large organisations, including government and utility programmes, and the site reflects that: our job is to gather the official figures and the market data accurately, present them plainly, and date them, not to give dental opinions. Anything clinical is left to a dentist, and we say so on the page.
How we source and check our information
- NHS charges and rules come from nhs.uk and the NHS Business Services Authority, checked on 1 October 2026 and reviewed every April when the charges change.
- Private price ranges come from a survey of 2,000+ UK practices (treatcompare.com, March 2026) and dentistcost.co.uk guideline ranges (September 2026). They are typical ranges, not quotes, and we refresh them twice a year.
- Practice data, when the finder is live, comes from the NHS England Directory of Healthcare Services, the same source as the official NHS find a dentist tool.
Every money figure on the site carries the date it was checked. If you spot something wrong, email [email protected] and we will correct it.
What we are not
We are not a dental practice, we do not give clinical advice, and we do not recommend or rank individual dentists. Private prices are survey ranges, not quotes from any practice. Partner links, where shown, are clearly labelled and may pay us a referral fee; that never changes the figures or the facts we publish.
